What's left behind the scenes

  • Sharon Stone starred in Landine's film. At one time, she met Bob Odenkirk (who played Hutch) at an awards ceremony for one of the film awards, and he inquired if she would be interested in playing a negative character in a film "like a Bond film."
  • Initially, the script stipulated that Hutch would take his family to Venice, but Bob Odenkirk felt that this would not fit the image of his character – an ordinary working man. Instead, he suggested a trip to the Wild Bill's Majestic Midway and Waterpark amusement park in a fictional town in Wisconsin. In his childhood, he himself visited a similar amusement park in Wisconsin Dells a couple of times, which he called "a place for those who cannot afford a trip to Hawaii or Disneyland." The character nicknamed Wild Bill is based on Tommy Bartlett, who worked in the entertainment industry of Wisconsin Dells from 1952 to 2020. The film was shot at one of the resorts in Winnipeg, Canada.
  • Ilya Naishuller (who directed the first film in the franchise in 2021) was unable to become the director of this film due to being busy with other projects. Specifically, he had scheduled filming for the comedy action film "Heads of State" (2025) starring John Cena and Idris Elba in the lead roles.
  • Before filming, Bob Odenkirk was trained by Daniel Bernhard, who played Kartush (one of the henchmen of Sharon Stone's character) and who participated in the creation of many other films of the independent film company 87North Productions (which specializes in creating action films) – in particular, films from the "John Wick" franchise, "Atomic Blonde," and "Ballerina." The character played by Bernhard usually dies, and another actor appears on the screen in his role. Bernhard played one of the villains on the bus that Hutch dealt with in the first film of the franchise. According to Odenkirk, they even discussed how Bernhard could use facial vegetation to change his appearance in different films of the franchise.
  • Police officers wear their badges upside down. This serves as a signal to the audience that law enforcement officers have defected and become representatives of the criminal world.
  • The idea to not make the first villain to appear on screen (in this case, Wyatt Martin, played by John Ortiz) the main antagonist came from Bob Odenkirk. At Odenkirk's suggestion, Martin became an ally of Hutch in the fight against the ultimate villain, or rather, villainess – a person who, in repayment of a debt against their will, works for the leader of a criminal organization.
  • The DUKW is an amphibious vehicle widely used during World War II. After the war, these vehicles were often used for recreational trips in various parts of the world. However, over time, they began to fall into disrepair. Following several accidents, both on land and in the water (some of which were even fatal), a significant number of companies organizing such trips went out of business.
