What's left behind the scenes

  • Around 50 people participated in the Russian dubbing of the film.
  • Upon arriving at Paul Mitchell's beauty salon, Zohan introduced himself as Scrappy Coco. According to the plot, that was the name of two dogs Zohan flew with in the same crate.
  • The main character, Zohan, is partly based on Nezi Arbiv, a hairdresser and former Israeli commando from California. While Sandler studied his habits and mannerisms, Arbiv showed Sandler and the film crew various haircutting styles.
  • According to one of the scriptwriters, Robert Schmegel, the script was mostly written back in 2000, but work on the film was postponed due to the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
  • The filmmakers offered Adam Sandler to create a bulging stomach using computer graphics, but the actor preferred to work with a trainer.
