What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is replete with intrusive product placement: Coca-Cola, Skittles, Sears. Particular attention is paid to McDonald's: an alien is named Mac, and there is a 5-minute scene of Ronald McDonald dancing.
  • Jade Calegory was born with spina bifida and genuinely uses a wheelchair.
  • The scenes in 'McDonald's' were filmed in Industry, California. It housed a real 'McDonald's' built for staff training and commercial filming. Everything inside the establishment was genuine, but it never operated as a functioning restaurant. When not in use, it was simply closed and left idle. It was demolished and rebuilt in 2006. A portion of the film's box office revenue was donated to McDonald's for charitable programs.
