What's left behind the scenes

  • José Padilha’s segment was completely cut from the theatrical version of the film due to legal threats from religious institutions, stemming from the use of an image of the statue of Christ. They initially found the scene offensive and disrespectful, but later revised their opinion.
  • To prepare for their roles, Bruna Linzmeyer and Rodrigo Santoro took ballet lessons.
  • Despite his fear of heights, during the filming of the movie, Marcelo Serrado, along with Ryan Kwanten, climbed Sugarloaf Mountain. The actor used steel cables for assistance, which were later removed during post-production.
  • Stefan Elliott wrote his segment based on a story from his own life – he met his wife under similar circumstances.
  • John Turturro was inspired to write his segment by a song by Vanessa Paradis, who also appeared in it.
