What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming took place from February 14 to August 2001 in London (United Kingdom), New York (USA), Prague (Czech Republic), and Toronto (Canada).
  • During filming, Wesley Snipes was hospitalized after receiving numerous burns while working with fire and flammable artificial skin.
  • Michael Jackson was considered for a cameo role.
  • The final scene featuring Blade appearing in the peep show booth instead of a stripper essentially mirrors a similar episode from "The Crow: City of Angels." David S. Goyer was the screenwriter for both films.
  • Initially, David S. Goyer wanted to include not one Nomak in the script, but two – twin brothers named Nomak and Starill, but he later abandoned this idea and left only Nomak in the final version.
  • The idea of reaper vampires was inspired by Polish folklore, where vampires had a barb or “finger” protruding from their mouth, which they used to suck blood.
  • Asia Argento, Kristanna Loken, Elena Anaya, and Rona Mitra were all considered for the role of Nyss.
  • In the opening scene of the film, we see tram number 52 emerging from under a viaduct in the Karlín district, followed by an inscription on the screen stating that it is Parisian Street. In reality, it is Sokolovská Street. Parisian Street is located in the Jewish Quarter of the city and is very far from this location.
  • When Blade and his team go to the club, it is night outside. When vampires fight a new race of vampires, and when Scud defends himself from the new race of vampires in the car, it is also night outside. But when Blade and Nomak fight, night suddenly gives way to day.
  • The final scene featuring Blade appearing in the peep show booth instead of a stripper actually mirrors a similar episode from "The Crow: City of Angels." David S. Goyer was the screenwriter for both films.
  • The idea of reaper vampires was inspired by Polish folklore, where vampires had a barb or "finger" protruding from their mouth, which they used to suck blood.
  • At the 2nd minute of the film, after the nurse asks about the scar, Nomak covers his chin with his hand. In the next shot, on the CCTV screen, it can be seen that Nomak's hands are already at his sides.
  • At the 3rd minute of the film, Nomak jumps up from the chair and bites the nurse in the neck, leaving a large bloodstain on the wall. When the guard draws his gun and shoots the vampire in the back in the next shot, the bloodstain on the wall has already changed shape.
  • At the 6th minute of the film, two vampires run up to three motorcycles and ride away on two of them. However, by the time a third vampire comes down the stairs and Blade jumps out the window, the third motorcycle has disappeared.
  • At the 8th minute of the film, when Blade knocks Rush off his motorcycle, the bike lands on both wheels. In the next scene, as Rush tries to get up after the fall, the motorcycle is already missing its rear wheel.
  • At the 9th minute, Blade interrogates Rush by holding the vampire's head under a rotating motorcycle wheel. Two errors can be spotted in this scene: 1) Rush's motorcycle helmet has been pre-cut in half, and it splits exactly into two pieces as soon as the vampire's head approaches the wheel; 2) Blade is holding Rush with both hands, making it unclear how he is revving the motorcycle engine during the interrogation.
  • At the 23rd minute of the film, Nyssa begins to remove her mask with her left hand. After a cut, she is removing it with her right hand.
  • At the 25th minute of the film, Nyssa enters a series of symbols on the panel, after which the pressed buttons light up. When she places a metal flask into the panel in the next shot, different buttons are lit.
  • At the 12th minute of the film, Blade frees Whistler, who falls out of the open capsule. Between shots, the position of Whistler, hanging from hoses and tubes, changes.
  • At the 12th minute of the film, when Blade approaches Whistler as he hangs from the hoses, his hair looks noticeably drier than in the previous shots.
  • At the 13th minute of the film, Blade lifts Whistler, supporting him by the head with one hand. In the next shot, Blade continues to lift Whistler, but is now holding him under the armpits with both hands.
  • At the 15th minute of the film, after the injection, Blade grabs Whistler by the hair with one hand. In the next shot, Blade is already holding him with both hands, and in the following shot, he is back to using only one.
  • At the 19th minute of the film, Whistler tells Scud that he spent two years in vampire captivity. It is unclear how Whistler knows the exact duration, since at the 18th minute, during the conversation in the bathroom, he admitted himself that he didn't know how much time had passed. Blade also never mentioned how long his associate had been held by the vampires.
  • At the 37th minute of the film, when Blade and a squad of vampires are walking down a corridor and stop at a closed door, a crew member can be seen in the lower right corner of the frame opening the door with a remote control.
  • At the 41st minute of the film, the flashlight on Verlen's automatic weapon uses an ultraviolet lens. In the next shot, as she comes around the corner and walks along the chain-link fence, a regular flashlight is being used.
  • At the 42nd minute of the film, when Scud moves into the cabin and looks out the side window, he is holding a cigarette and a piece of a donut in his right hand. In the next shot, only the cigarette remains in his hand.
  • At the 47th minute of the film, Chupa shoots at the vampire-werewolf, but the creature manages to escape the gunfire. In this scene, it can be noticed that the werewolf runs through the same spot in the corridor twice.
  • At the 53rd minute of the film, when Blade approaches a fork on a wooden platform, a stuntman portraying Nomak can be seen standing in the background with his arms raised.
  • During the fight in the church at the 54th minute of the film, Blade decides to use an automatic recharging system for syringes containing an anticoagulant, which was not previously on Blade's wrists. Scad first demonstrates this invention at the 35th minute, and it has not appeared in scenes since, with only leather gloves remaining on Blade's hands.
  • At the 59th minute of the film, when Blade looks into a hole in the sewer, the Priest is eating red jelly. In the next shot, there is nothing left on the plate in front of him.
  • At the 68th minute of the film, Nyssa looks at Blade when Whistler asks him for help. In the next shot, as Blade leaves, she is already looking down in front of her.
  • At the 98th minute of the film, when Blade catches the glasses thrown by Whistler, the latter makes a hand gesture in the background as if throwing the glasses once again.
  • At the 101st minute of the film, as Nyssa approaches Nomak, she removes her jacket from her shoulders twice due to a jump cut.
