- Bruce Joel Rubin first met Nicole Kidman when she auditioned for Jerry Zucker's mystical melodrama 'Ghost' (1990). Zucker decided he needed a more popular actress for the lead role and Kidman was turned down, but Rubin, impressed by what he saw at the audition, offered her the role of Gale.
