- "Breaking Dawn" is the fourth novel in the "Twilight" series by Stephanie Meyer. The book was first published in the United States on August 2, 2008, with sales beginning at midnight and accompanied by fan parties at bookstores. The initial print run was 3.7 million copies, of which 1.3 million were sold in the first 24 hours of sales, setting a new record for the "Hachette Book Group" publishing house.
- Stephenie Meyer made another cameo appearance in "Breaking Dawn": she can be spotted among the guests at the wedding when Bella walks down the aisle with her father.
- Sofia Coppola was interested in directing "Breaking Dawn", but after Summit Entertainment decided to split the final book into two parts, Coppola shifted her focus to finding another project.
- Mark Waters and Gus Van Sant were considered to direct the "Breaking Dawn" duology. Ultimately, Bill Condon took the director's chair.
- Robert Pattinson followed a strict diet and worked out at the gym for six months (before and during filming). He later admitted that he wanted to look more masculine for the scene of Bella and Edward's first wedding night.
- Carter Burwell returned as the composer at the invitation of director Bill Condon, with whom he had previously collaborated on another film.
- Renesmee – the name of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan's daughter – was created by combining the names of Bella's mother, Renée, and Edward's adoptive mother, Esme. Her middle name, Carly, is a combination of Carlisle, Edward's adoptive father, and Charlie, Bella's father.
