What's left behind the scenes
- David Caruso left the cast of the TV series "NYPD Blue" (1993-2005) to film this movie, and then decided to dedicate himself entirely to acting.
- Preparing for his role in this film, Nicolas Cage actively worked out at the gym and got into excellent shape. Several years later, he would get back into shape for filming Simon West's thriller "Air Prison" (1997).
- The Empire State Building is shown in the film with red, white, and blue lighting. This was done in honor of the New York Rangers hockey team, which was competing for the Stanley Cup at the time.
- One of the film's cinematographers was Constantine Makris, the director and cinematographer of the television series "Law & Order" and its spin-offs. He was invited to "Kiss of Death" primarily for his extensive knowledge of suitable filming locations in New York.
- At the beginning of the film, David Caruso's character walks home along a street that was also filmed in the original "Kiss of Death" (Henry Hathaway, 1947).
