What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on Susan Hill's novel "The Woman in Black" (1983).
  • In 1987, a play based on Susan Hill's book was staged, debuting at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scunthorpe. Two years later, the play moved to the West End, where it continues to run to this day.
  • Initially, the film's producers considered making it in 3D, but they subsequently decided against this idea.
  • The boy playing the son of the hero Daniel Radcliffe in the film is actually the young actor’s godson. This suggestion was made by Daniel Radcliffe himself during the casting process.
  • The music boxes and mechanical toys in the nursery scene were real antique items from that period, borrowed from a collector for the duration of filming.
  • Kieran Hinds’ character’s car is a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. This unique vehicle is considered the most expensive in the world, with an insurance value of $35 million in 2005. At the time of filming, the 1907 car was valued at $57 million.
  • Adrian Rawlins, the actor who played Harry Potter’s father, was the protagonist of the 1989 film “The Woman in Black”.
  • When Arthur emerges from the swamp, he is supposed to be completely covered in mud. However, a clean outline around his mouth is visible.
  • At the 54th minute, Arthur puts the axe down to tear the wallpaper. After tearing the wallpaper, he steps back 2 or 3 steps and reads the inscription. In the next frame, he is holding the axe again, but he doesn't bend down to pick it up.
  • The film is based on Susan Hill's novel 'The Woman in Black' (1983).
  • Adrian Rawlins, the actor who played Harry Potter's father, was the main character in the 1989 film "The Woman in Black".
