What's left behind the scenes

  • The author of the original book "The Sheep-Pig" is Dick King-Smith (born 1922) – a British farmer. He published his first book when he was already 57 years old.
  • The talking piglet is the result of a combination of 48 real Yorkshire piglets plus an animatronic double.
  • The large number of piglets required for the role of Babe was due to the fact that piglets grow very quickly.
  • Each of the piglets was made up accordingly to look like the same piglet. The basis of the makeup was false bristles and eyelashes.
  • The author of the original book "Babe: The Gallant Pig" is Dick King-Smith (born 1922) – a British farmer. He published his first book when he was already 57 years old.
  • In the finale of the original theatrical release of the film, after the end credits, field mice reappeared and said: “Thank you for staying with us until the end.” This final appearance of the mice was removed from the television and video versions of the film.
