What's left behind the scenes

  • The final shot of the film shows Freddy Thorp as Michael climbing a 300-meter sheer cliff face in an Alpine valley near Chamonix, France – without a safety rope. A rope was actually used, but it was removed from the frame during post-production.
  • Ryan Phillippe, who played Leo, trained with Will Simms, a certified mountain guide with the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations, and made ascents to altitudes of up to 3,600 meters on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.
  • A significant portion of the night shoots were conducted at an altitude of 2,000 meters on both sides of Mont Blanc (this peak is located on the border between Italy and France). All the puffs of steam exhaled by the characters in the cold were genuine, not added to the frame using computer technology.
  • In the first shot of Isabelle skiing (Isabelle played Mathilde Warnier), it was actually Adèle Milloz, a French ski mountaineer, participant in the World Military Games and the 2017 Winter Olympics in Sochi, who was filmed instead of the actress. Milloz died on August 12, 2022, while climbing one of the mountains in the Mont Blanc massif.
