Somos animales

Somos animales is a Mexican documentary and fantasy film that explores the connection between humans and animals. Through the perspectives of Tania and a cat named Cocteau who arrives from a near future, the story follows the journey of various creatures through the world. In a ruined, dystopian city, animals such as rats, pigeons, cockroaches, and cats exist in a way that reminds observers of something special that was lost long ago.

The film was directed and produced by Tania Álvarez. The cast features animals including Cocteau, La negrita, Bonnie, Pishu, and Aragog, alongside Andrés Ganem as Hechicero. With a runtime of 17 minutes, the project was a production of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and the Escuela Nacional De Artes Cinematográficas. It was released on January 5, 2023.
