What's left behind the scenes
- After escaping Rumplestiltskin’s castle, Donkey says to Shrek “I won’t ask why you’re so sad… but why are you so sad?” This is a parody of a line spoken by the Joker in the film “The Dark Knight” (2008), where the Joker, when talking about his father, says “Why so serious?”.
- In the finale, on the shelf where Shrek placed the book, you can notice another book with the title of the next cartoon – "Puss in Boots" (2011).
- The cartoon "Shrek the Third" (2007) shows the Quiet Giant (as Rumplestiltskin is called), but he looks different. The Pied Piper was also shown in the cartoon "Shrek" (2001), when fairytale creatures ran to Shrek's swamp, and he also looked different.
