What's left behind the scenes
- Almost every scene in the film is shot in a long take lasting from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Director Matteo Garrone loves this technique and regularly uses it in his films.
- A former Camorra hitman, the lead actor Aniello Arena has been serving a life sentence since 1991 for a triple murder in the suburbs of Naples. The director had to obtain special permission for his participation in the filming.
