A Nightmare

A man struggles to fall asleep, only for his rest to be interrupted by a series of surreal and unsettling visions. After a woman appears by his bedside, she and other figures transform into disturbing characters, and a sinister, grinning moon moves toward his balcony to haunt him.

Produced by Star-Film in France, this horror short was directed by Georges Méliès, who also produced the film and starred as the man. Jehanne d'Alcy appears as the woman in toga. This project represents the first of 14 films directed by Méliès, preceding his 1898 work, The Magician.

The one-minute film has received a moderate reception from viewers. It holds a rating of 6.4/10 on IMDb based on 2,300 votes and a score of 6.1/10 on TMDB from 116 votes.
