Pavements

Pavements follows the alternative rock band Pavement as they prepare for a series of sold-out reunion concerts in 2022. The film blends documentary footage with surreal elements, imagining various tributes to the group's legacy. These include a museum dedicated to the band, a Hollywood biopic designed to win awards, and an off-Broadway musical based on their songs.

Directed by Alex Ross Perry, this project is the sixth film in his career, following Videoheaven. The screenplay was co-written by Perry and band member Stephen Malkmus. The cast features the members of Pavement appearing as themselves, including Malkmus, Scott Kannberg, Bob Nastanovich, Mark Ibold, and Steve West, alongside Rebecca Clay Cole and Joe Keery. The production was a joint effort between companies from the United States and Germany, including Vice Studios and Field Recordings.
