Alien Contact

Alien Contact is a documentary that investigates the possibility of intelligent life existing within the Earth's oceans rather than in outer space. The film focuses on manta rays, examining their social behavior, self-awareness, and brain size to determine if these creatures are attempting to communicate with humans.

The project was directed by Rick Rosenthal, who also served as a marine biologist for the production. This film is the eighth in his directing career, following previous works such as Halloween II and Drones. The screenplay was written by science fiction author Chris Carter, who joined Rosenthal on the investigative journey.

A joint production between companies in Germany, Austria, and the United States, the TV movie was released on February 14, 2024, with a total runtime of 50 minutes. It was produced by Terra Mater Factual Studios, NDR Naturfilm, Doclights, and Wild Logic.
