What's left behind the scenes
- The film company wanted to cast a well-known actress in the role of Mary, and negotiations were held with Nastassja Kinski and Holly Hunter. Director Nacho Cerdà, however, insisted on a lesser-known actress, believing that this would make the character more relatable to the audience. Anastasia Hill was approved for the role after a casting call in London, and the film company did not dispute his choice.
