Flatfoot in Egypt

Flatfoot in Egypt follows Inspector Rizzo, known as Piedone, a Naples police officer who travels to Egypt with his colleague Marshal Caputo to search for the missing Professor Cerullo. The professor has apparently discovered a beetle that lives only near oil deposits, which makes his disappearance a matter of interest to criminals as well. A young member of Rizzo's household, Bodo, stows away to join the trip. The film is an Italian action comedy that mixes crime investigation with broad humour.

It was directed by Steno, whose long career included several earlier entries following the same character: The Knock Out Cop in 1973, Flatfoot in Hong Kong in 1975 and Flatfoot in Africa in 1978, before this 1980 instalment and later films such as Banana Joe. Bud Spencer plays Inspector Rizzo, with Enzo Cannavale as Caputo, Cinzia Monreale as Connie Burns, Angelo Infanti as Hassan, Karl-Otto Alberty as Swede and Adel Adham as Elver Zakar. Steno wrote the screenplay with Massimo Franciosa and Adriano Bolzoni, and the production company was Merope.

The film runs 104 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1/10 from around 3,900 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.2/10 from roughly 174 votes, indicating a modest but steady following for this later chapter in the series.
