According to James Woods, it was difficult for him to film because his character had to constantly be angry with Michael J. Fox's character, with whom he maintained a friendly relationship in real life.
Cinematographer Robert Prymes was fired midway through filming by director John Badham and replaced by Donald McAlpine. Badham thought Prymes was working too slowly. He had expressed similar complaints during the filming of their previous collaboration, "Bird on a Wire" (1990).

At the 92-minute mark, in the scene where Nick Lang flips the car with the unexpected passenger, the safety ribs for the stunt performers are visible inside the vehicle. In the following scene, shot from inside the car, they are not present.
