What's left behind the scenes

  • According to information from the producers, filming took place in Wilmington, North Carolina, while the modern-day scenes were filmed in Carolina Beach, North Carolina.
  • The film was originally scheduled for release in May 2001, then in January 2001. Ultimately, it was released on November 21, 2001.
  • Chris Tucker was originally slated to star in the film, but he refused to participate without a $15 million fee.
  • The scene where Princess Regina trips over the bedspreads on her bed and falls was not originally planned in the script. Jeanette Vigar tripped and fell purely by accident, but the resulting footage was so pleasing to the director that he included it in the final version of the film.
  • The flag of Hungary is visible in some scenes of the film.
  • Paula Abdul choreographed one of the dances.
  • Lake Jamala is shown from different angles. In some shots, he is wearing a medallion, and in others, he is not.
