There are two main versions of the film: one lasts 106 minutes (Hong Kong), the other 90 minutes (international). A Taiwanese version was also released, which includes scenes not found in the Hong Kong and international versions. However, even the Taiwanese version is not complete – the original version of the film, which Jackie Chan made for Golden Harvest, was three hours long. This version was edited, and 70 minutes of footage were removed during the initial editing. That version has not survived to this day.
This is the first film in which Jackie Chan performs the soundtrack himself at the end of the movie.
This is the first film Jackie made in collaboration with Golden Harvest, a studio that became a constant partner of Jackie for many years to come.
The fan fighting scene was filmed in 329 takes.
Much of the film was shot in Taiwan, as Jackie Chan was forced to hide from the triads.
