Short description
Gal Dove, a former safecracker who spent years in prison, is living quietly in a villa in Spain with his wife, Deedee. Word reaches him that a man named Don Logan, a figure from his past, wants him back in London for one more job. Gal has no wish to return, and the disagreement between the two men becomes the centre of the story.
Sexy Beast is a British crime film directed by Jonathan Glazer, from a screenplay by Louis Mellis and David Scinto, and produced by Jeremy Thomas. It was Glazer's first feature, followed later by Birth, Under the Skin, The Zone of Interest and Joy of Joys. Ray Winstone plays Gal, with Ben Kingsley as Don Logan, Ian McShane as Teddy Bass, Amanda Redman as Deedee, James Fox as Harry and Cavan Kendall as Aitch.
Released in 2001, the film runs 89 minutes and was made for about 5 million dollars, taking roughly 10 million dollars worldwide. It holds a 7.3 rating on IMDb from around 75,000 votes and a 7 rating on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes. On Rotten Tomatoes it has a critics' score of 7.4 from 143 reviews, close to the audience rating.
