Actors and characters

Due to extreme budget constraints, the film was shot only on Sundays, when the actors were free from their primary jobs.
Due to the fact that the Chilean film industry was only just emerging during this period, there were very few professional actors in the country. As the young actors were not professionals and had no prior experience, the director began working with them seven months before the actual filming process began.
The book that Gonzalo’s mother’s friend gives him to read is “The Lone Ranger” – a story about a man in the Wild West who befriended a Native American.
The shot of the plane flying overhead at the end of the film reflects a real event: a plane sent to bomb the presidential palace in Santiago during the military coup.
