What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on Ian Fleming’s novel “Casino Royale” (1953).
  • The film was originally planned as another installment in the Bond series, but Feldman was unhappy with the fee Sean Connery demanded for the lead role, and a decision was made to make a parody.
  • Val Guest, Ben Hecht, Joseph Heller, Terry Southern, Billy Wilder, and Peter Sellers also contributed to the screenplay but were not credited.
  • Composer Burt Bacharach’s musical theme, Bond Street, was later used in one of the Bond films, “Octopussy.”
  • The film's posters featured a nude tattooed woman, and Orson Welles attributed the film's commercial success to her.
  • Next to Orson Welles, one can notice a rug beater as a reference to Fleming's original novel.
  • Doctor No and Giovanna Goodfings are references to Fleming's characters Doctor No and Mary Goodnight.
  • In 1954, Ian Fleming's novel was adapted for television as one episode of the series 'Climax!'. Feldman's film was the first cinematic adaptation of the novel. The next one wasn't released for another 40 years.
  • Ian Fleming always dreamed of seeing actor David Niven in the role of James Bond.
  • The film's budget exceeded the budgets of the two previous official Bond films, "Thunderball" and "You Only Live Twice".
  • As a result of a court case over the rights to adapt Fleming's novel of the same name, Sony paid $5 million to MGM and transferred all rights to them in 1999. In 2005, Sony bought MGM and released a new adaptation of the novel in 2006.
  • Ursula Andress is the only actress to have appeared twice as a "Bond girl": in "Dr. No" and in Feldman's parody.
  • The storyline involving Peter Sellers is the only thing that connects the film to Fleming's book.
  • George Raft and Jean-Paul Belmondo are credited in the opening titles of the film, although each of them appears on screen for only a few seconds.
  • Problems with actor Peter Sellers forced the producer to reduce and alter the storyline of his character.
  • In addition to Ursula Andress, who starred in 'Dr. No,' some actors also appeared in both the parody and the official Bond films. Vladek Sheybal also played in 'From Russia with Love,' Bert Kwouk in 'Goldfinger' and 'You Only Live Twice,' Jeanne Roland in 'You Only Live Twice,' Angela Scoular in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service,' and Caroline Munro in 'The Spy Who Loved Me.'
  • Deborah Kerr, who was 46 years old during filming, turned out to be the 'oldest' of the 'Bond girls.'
  • Along with her father John, a young Anjelica Huston makes her film debut as an unnamed agent.
  • The role of the man running after the car after the line “Follow that car!” was played by the famous racer Stirling Moss.
  • “Casino Royale” is the only known film in which James Bond dies.
  • The film is based on Ian Fleming's novel "Casino Royale" (1953).
