What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on J.K. Rowling's novel "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" (2007).
  • Kate Winslet was considered for the role of Helena.
  • With limited space at their disposal, the special effects supervisor John Richardson’s team devised unusual scissor-lift elevators that rose upwards, creating the illusion of towering treasures. The props department, headed by Barry Wilkinson and Pierre Bohanna, cast over 200,000 gold coins and thousands of other items to fill the vault. The visual effects team then precisely and repeatedly multiplied them.
  • Actor Jamie Waylett, who played Crabbe, was unable to participate in filming as he was arrested for involvement in street riots and for growing cannabis at home.
  • The scenes involving the largest number of actors and extras were the final battle in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which featured 400 Death Eaters and Snatchers, and the scenes in the Great Hall, which included 400 children and their teachers.
  • Actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, insisted that his girlfriend, actress Jade Gordon, be cast as his wife in the epilogue.
  • In the book, the crucial conversation between the Dark Lord and Severus Snape took place in the Shrieking Shack, but David Yates received permission from J.K. Rowling to change the location in the film adaptation. A boathouse was constructed at Leavesden Studios, located at the water’s edge beneath the walls of Hogwarts. Craig designed the building in a Tudor style with glass walls, so, according to him, “it was a fight all the time, always fearing losing your footing literally, because the lights were reflecting in the water and in the glass, disorienting you.”
  • The tavern in Hogsmeade, owned by Dumbledore's brother, Aberforth, is more packed with electronics than any other set.
  • The film is based on J.K. Rowling’s novel *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows* (2007).
