Bamssi focuses on the emotional connection between Mourad and Fairuz as they communicate across the sea between Tunisia and other countries. The narrative explores the tension between the routine of home and the dangerous desire for a new life abroad. Through a series of images, the story examines themes of longing and displacement, highlighting the contrast between the familiarity of the house and the pull of the horizon.
The film was directed by Mourad Ben Amor and written by Fairuz Ghammam. This production was a joint effort between Belgium and Tunisia, produced by Auguste Orts. The cast features Bamssi, Saïda, Princess, Queen, Kenza, and Wazgha appearing as themselves. The short film has a runtime of 26 minutes and was released on March 31, 2024.
