  • The film is based on Joseph Conrad's novel "The Secret Agent" (1907).
  • Hitchcock's previous film was also titled "The Secret Agent." To avoid confusion with Hitchcock's 1936 film of the same name, the next film was titled "Sabotage." In 1942, Hitchcock filmed "Saboteur" (English: "Saboteur"), and confusion still arose.
  • "Sabotage" was banned in several countries, as it was considered a hint for terrorists.
  • The film was released in the US under the title "A Woman Alone".
  • The role of Ted Spencer, played by John Lodge Hitchcock, was initially offered to Robert Donat, but he was unable to participate in the filming due to asthma attacks.
