Jim Hardy leaves the music business behind to become a gentleman farmer in New England, hoping to marry his performing partner Lila Dixon. She stays in show business instead, drawn to his colleague Ted Hanover, so Jim settles alone on the farm. Finding rural life dull, he turns the property into a country club that opens only on national holidays, and hires a new partner, Linda Mason, to perform there. Ted, now without Lila, arrives with his manager and sets his sights on Linda as his next dancing partner, putting him in competition with Jim for her.

Mark Sandrich directed and produced the film, working from a screenplay by Claude Binyon. It was the third of the three films he directed listed here, following The Gay Divorcee and Top Hat. Bing Crosby plays Jim and Fred Astaire plays Ted, with Marjorie Reynolds as Linda, Virginia Dale as Lila, Walter Abel as Danny Reed and Louise Beavers as Mamie, among a credited cast of 33. The score is by Irving Berlin.

Released in 1942, the film runs 101 minutes and was made by Paramount, taking about 4 million dollars worldwide. It holds a 7.1 rating on TMDB from roughly 230 votes, while critics rate it 7.2 from 25 reviews.
