Savage Streets

Brenda leads the Satins, a group of high school girls in Los Angeles who clash with the Scars, a male gang, over territory and respect. When the Scars attack Brenda's younger sister Heather, who is deaf and mute, and kill Brenda's closest friend, Brenda sets out to track down those responsible and make them pay. Her campaign of revenge turns the streets into a hunting ground.

Danny Steinmann directed and co-wrote the film with Norman Yonemoto, and John Strong produced it. It was Steinmann's first feature as director; he followed it the next year with Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Linda Blair, already a well-known screen presence, plays Brenda, with John Vernon as Principal Underwood, Robert Dryer as Jake, Linnea Quigley as Heather, Sal Landi as Fargo and Johnny Venokur as Vince among a credited cast of 21. Made for about 2 million dollars, the film took roughly 5 million worldwide, a solid return for an independent production of its size.

On IMDb it holds a 6.2 rating from about 6,300 votes, and on TMDB a 6.3 from around 150 votes, a level of agreement that suggests a modest but steady following rather than wide acclaim.
