What's left behind the scenes

  • Screenwriter Vijendra Prasad came up with the idea for the film back in the late 1990s. At that time, he was simply joking with his son S.S. Rajamouli, who later directed the film, about a fly seeking revenge on a human.
  • It was incredibly difficult to convey the emotions of an insect, because almost the entire head of a fly is covered by an eye, and there are practically no muscles there. In an attempt to overcome this difficulty, S.S. Rajamouli decided to resort to body language. Nani was covered with a headpiece and instructed to demonstrate various emotions exclusively through body language. The resulting information was then passed on to the animation team, who transferred the movements to the image of the fly.
  • Ten days after the start of filming, S.S. Rajamouli halted work on the project because the fly created using visual effects did not impress him at all. However, since between 4 and 8 crore (1 crore equals 10 million units, in this case, rupees) had already been spent, he decided not to stop and ordered a new fly to be made.
  • Several episodes were cut from the Hindi version, and the film's duration was reduced to 120 minutes.
