The March

The March, also referred to as The March to Washington, is a documentary that chronicles the 1963 civil rights demonstration in Washington. The film focuses on the event's push for human rights and features Martin Luther King Jr. delivering his I Have a Dream speech at the Lincoln Memorial.

Directed by James Blue, the film was produced by the United States Information Agency for international audiences. Due to the 1948 Smith-Mundt Act, it could not be screened within the United States until Congress granted authorization in 1990. The production features appearances by Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, Joan Baez, Carl Rowan, Marian Anderson, and James Farmer. In 2008, the Library of Congress added the film to the National Film Registry for its historical, aesthetic, or cultural importance.
