During a fall from a pyramid during stunt work, Chan received a serious injury to the back of his skull. He broke his chin and fractured his lower jaw.
The film was entered into the Guinness Book of Records for the number of takes of a single scene (where Jackie Chan, playing Chinese football, had to score a goal with a small shuttlecock).
"Lord Dragon" was originally intended to be a sequel to the film "Young Master" (1980), but was later reworked into a standalone film.
This is the first Jackie Chan film to feature "bloopers" shown at the end with the credits.
The full version of the film has a runtime of 106 minutes.
