Amy is a career-driven professional whose plans for a quiet weekend with her grandmother are disrupted by an urgent work assignment. Forced to secure a contract in California to ensure a promotion, she finds herself traveling in an old van rather than flying. She is joined on this road trip by her grandmother, the grandmother's friend, and a resort activities director named Mark. The journey deviates from its intended path, leading the group through a sentimental detour.
