The Village of Eight Gravestones is a Japanese mystery horror film based on a work by Seishi Yokomizo. The story focuses on a detective who travels to a village that appears to be under the influence of a mysterious curse. While there, he encounters a young man with a troubled family history who has returned to his mother's hometown. The plot follows the events of a killing spree and the tension between the visitors and the hostile local residents.
Takashi Shimizu directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Shintaro Ogai. This project marks the nineteenth film in Shimizu's career, following The Mouths and preceding Sana: Play with Me. The movie stars Matsuya Onoe in the role of Kosuke Kindaichi. Produced by Shochiku, KADOKAWA, and Yokomizu Seishi, the film has a total runtime of 114 minutes.
