What's left behind the scenes
- The man who gets into a street skirmish with the heroine Nelly Benedetti was played by screenwriter Jean-Louis Richard. The scene was shot on location, and the filmmakers constantly had to calm down passersby who were trying to come to the actress's aid.
- The incident that concludes the film happened in real life, which director and screenwriter François Truffaut read about in a newspaper.
- François Truffaut would later repeat the scene with the kitten and the breakfast leftovers on a tray in the 1973 melodrama 'Day for Night'.
- The scenes in the apartment of Pierre Lanche, played by Jean Desailly, were filmed at the home of director and screenwriter François Truffaut.
- François Truffaut had already acquired the rights to adapt Ray Bradbury's dystopian novel 'Fahrenheit 451' (1963), but the preparations for filming took so long that he had time to write the screenplay for 'The Soft Skin' and film it.
