This adventure documentary follows a French climbing group in 1983 as they travel to Tibet. Led by Yannick Seigneur, the team attempts to reach the summit of Mount Everest via the western ridge from the Chinese side using an alpine style. While documenting the expedition, Jean Afanassieff captures the daily lives of the Tibetan people and the tension between their religious traditions and the influence of the modern world.
Directed by Jean Afanassieff and Bernard Prud'Homme, the film was produced by Yannick Seigneur. It is the first of two films directed by Afanassieff listed in the records, preceding Faces Nord from 1987. The cast features the expedition members appearing as themselves, including Yannick Seigneur, Jean Afanassieff, Patrick Barthe, Louis-Paul Chantelat, Eric Escoffier, and Jean-Louis Étienne. Released on January 1, 1984, the production has a total runtime of 30 minutes.
