The Animal Remains

The Animal Remains follows Mira and her dog, Baxus, who live a quiet, secluded life in the countryside. Their peace is disrupted when they intervene during a sexual assault in a nearby forest. This event forces Mira to navigate the complications of the legal system, leading to a personal transformation where the distinction between nature and humanity disappears.

This Slovenian and Czech production was directed by Ivana Vogrinc Vidali, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Darja Miková. It is the first of two films she directed in 2026, preceding Little Fury. The cast features Nataša Matjašec Rošker as Mira, Čarna Lampret as Ronja, and Baxus appearing as himself. The film was produced by MasterFilm, Temporama, and MB Grip and has a total runtime of 23 minutes.
