LUTAO is an upcoming apocalyptic survival thriller set in a remote Muslim village in Mindanao. The story begins when a fisherman discovers a hidden grave in the forest, triggering a mysterious outbreak within the peaceful community. As the situation descends into chaos, a single family struggles to survive while dealing with grief, faith, and long-hidden secrets. The film integrates regional Lutao folklore with the Southeast Asian legend of the Pocong, a corpse wrapped in a shroud that returns from the dead. The narrative uses the Tausug and Bisaya languages to explore themes of compassion and accountability.
The film is a production of INATO Pictures and was written and directed by Michael Compoc, who developed the story from a concept by Harsey Panisa Antocan. The cast features Rennielle Golosino as Omeng, Muzdalifah Alauya as Minang, Learine Geane Ydulzura as Sahara, Mershaan Mona as Saling, Edrie John Aragones as Amil, and Mackmod Alauya as Al. This independent Filipino folk horror short has a runtime of 21 minutes and was created without any sponsors or a production budget.
