Short description
Mortal Kombat: Rebirth is a 2010 American short fan film directed by Kevin Tancharoen, with fight choreography by Larnell Stovall. Based on the Mortal Kombat series of fighting games, the short-film "actually was made by the director to sell Warner Bros. Entertainment on his vision for a reimagined Mortal Kombat film."
What's left behind the scenes
- According to Jeri Ryan, she agreed to appear in the short film upon request, as the actress was convinced it was part of a pitch for a feature-length movie.
- The Reptile's disease is called 'harlequin ichthyosis,' which explains his appearance, including the scales. This is a real medical condition; however, recent medical advancements have made it possible to extend the lives of people with this disease (the longest recorded lifespan is 31 years, for a patient born in 1986).
- In the Mortal Kombat games, Jax Briggs is a major in the US Army; in the short film, he is a police detective.
