Mike McCoy is a band singer who also races cars, and his life gets complicated when three very different women set their sights on marrying him. Among them are Les, the drummer in his group; Cynthia, the wealthy and somewhat spoiled daughter of a man who owns a car Mike wants to drive; and Diana, a writer working on a book about men. Cynthia's father offers Mike a deal: drive his car in an important race, and marriage to Cynthia could follow. Mike has to work out how to handle the women pursuing him and the one who is pushing him toward the altar while keeping his racing plans on track.
Norman Taurog directed the film, the thirteenth of the fourteen features he made in chronological order, coming after Tickle Me and before Speedway. Theodore J. Flicker and George Kirgo wrote the screenplay, and Joe Pasternak produced it for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Euterpe Productions. Elvis Presley stars as Mike McCoy, with Shelley Fabares as Cynthia Foxhugh, Diane McBain as Diana St. Clair, Dodie Marshall as Susan, Deborah Walley as Les and Jack Mullaney as Curly among the twenty credited cast members.
Released in October 1966, the film runs 93 minutes and mixes comedy, music and romance. It took in about 6 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.8 from roughly 2,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.6 from around 41 votes, so the two audiences are broadly in agreement.
