What's left behind the scenes
- The idea for a film about a hitman who had been "double-crossed" by his own clients came to Rodriguez and Tarantino back in the 90s. Rodriguez decided to realize the idea only after the release of "Grindhouse," which featured a trailer for the then-nonexistent film "Machete" as an announcement of upcoming movie premieres.
- Scenes with Lindsay Lohan were filmed in 3 days.
- Chris Cooper turned down the role in the film after reading the script, saying: "This is the most absurd thing I have ever read."
