Into the Sun

Into the Sun is an action thriller set in Tokyo, where the assassination of the city's governor sets off a wider struggle. The killing is linked to a conflict within organized crime, pitting established yakuza figures against a younger, more volatile faction that has allied itself with Chinese criminal groups. Travis Hunter, a CIA operative raised in Japan and trained in part by former yakuza, is sent to investigate, and his old connections give him access to a world he already knows well. What begins as a hunt for those behind the murder develops into an attempt to stop a large-scale drug operation being assembled across both organizations.

Steven Seagal plays Hunter and also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Halpin and Trevor Miller. The film is directed by mink, and the cast includes Matthew Davis, Takao Osawa, Namihiko Ohmura, Daisuke Honda and Ken Lo, with 32 credited performers in total. It was produced by Elie Samaha, Seagal and Kevan Van Thompson for several companies, with a budget of 15 million dollars.
