What's left behind the scenes
- It took 10 months for 12 people to build four versions of the Car. The actual work took 8 weeks. The car used for stunts had to be equipped with numerous safety systems and mechanisms.
- The car was specially designed for this film by the renowned automotive designer George Barris (1925-2015), who repeatedly created cars for the American film industry, including the Batmobile for the 1966 film.
- Four cars were assembled for filming – one for close-up shots and three for stunts. During filming, two cars were destroyed, and one is now kept in a private collection.
- To give the Car a 'sinister' look, as the director requested, George Barris lowered its roof by 7.6 centimeters and raised and lengthened the fenders.
