What's left behind the scenes
- The film features a popular film camera of the time, the “Debrie.”
- In 2024, after five years of work, Nikolai Izvolov restored the most authentic version of the film possible. The film was recreated based on copies from film archives in Krasnogorsk and the Netherlands, documents from Glavrepertkom, and the notes of Dziga Vertov. This allowed for the restoration of the film’s semantic structure, which had been distorted by later edits: the original opening titles were found, animated inserts were restored, and the original projection speed was corrected. Frames shot by Mikhail Kaufman were also oriented correctly for the first time. The music was also recreated from scores approved by Vertov himself.
