Concert for George

Concert for George is a documentary record of a tribute concert held at London's Royal Albert Hall on 29 November 2002, marking the first anniversary of George Harrison's death. The event was organized by Harrison's widow Olivia and his son Dhani, with Eric Clapton and Jeff Lynne serving as musical directors. Proceeds went to Harrison's Material World Charitable Foundation. The performance brought together friends and collaborators to play his songs and the music he loved, with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Jools Holland, Monty Python and Dhani Harrison among the participants. The film was shot with discreet cameras from more than twelve positions around the hall, and runs 140 minutes.

David Leland directed; this is the first of the two films he directed, followed by Virgin Territory in 2007. He also produced alongside Jon Kamen and Olivia Harrison, and the credited cast and crew number 34 and 40 respectively. The film was released in October 2003.

Audience response has been strong: on IMDb it holds 8.6/10 from around 2,300 votes, and on TMDB 8.1/10 from a much smaller base of 64 votes. The gap in vote counts reflects a widely seen concert film that has drawn consistent approval from those who have rated it.
