Playmobil: The Movie

Playmobil: The Movie follows Marla, whose orderly life is upended when her younger brother Charlie vanishes into the animated world of Playmobil toys. Determined to bring him home, she sets out on a journey through that realm, where she meets a talkative food truck owner named Del, a suave secret agent called Rex Dasher, a hapless robot, and a Fairy Godmother. Marla is voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie by Gabriel Bateman, and Del by Jim Gaffigan. The voice cast also includes Adam Lambert, Kenan Thompson and Meghan Trainor.

The film was directed by Lino DiSalvo, working from a screenplay by Greg Erb, Jason Oremland and Blaise Hemingway. It is a co-production between Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, made by DMG Entertainment, ON Animation Studios, Morgen Studios and Little Dragon Pictures.

Released in 2019, the film runs 99 minutes and blends adventure, comedy and fantasy for a family audience. Its reported budget of 75 million USD stands far above its worldwide box office of 16 million USD, a wide gap between spending and returns. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 321 votes, while the film critics' rating stands lower, at 4.1 out of 10 from 62 reviews, meaning professional reviewers rated it less favourably than the site's general users did.
