What's left behind the scenes
- The entire project was initially announced as an April Fool's joke, but then, due to genuine public interest, a statement was released that it would be filmed.
- In early June 2016, Sadako (the ghost from Hideo Nakata's 1998 film "The Ring") and Kayako (the spirit of the murdered girl from Takashi Shimizu's 2004 film "The Grudge") appeared at a baseball game in Japan to make the first pitch.
- As part of the film's promotional campaign, several events were organized. Twitter users could vote online for Sadako or Kayako as their favorite horror movie character. The last day of voting was set for June 17, 2016. Two promotional videos were uploaded to YouTube – one in support of Sadako, the second – in support of Kayako and Toshio. According to the results of the vote, Sadako won.
- If you look closely at Sadako’s video cassette, you can make out her face on the worn sticker, and an eye in the center.
