- Tim Burton was only 30 years old when he was working on the film. Michael Keaton's filming took just two weeks. His screen time was just over 17 minutes.
- The initial script was quite dark and serious. It was supposed to be a moralistic drama about the ghosts of people whose souls could not find peace in heaven.
- The studio didn't like the title 'Beetlejuice' and wanted to call the film 'House Ghosts'.
- “Miss Argentina” Patrice Martinez starred in an episodic role as the receptionist in the heavenly waiting room.
