Short description
Jon Rubin is a Vietnam veteran who moves into a rundown apartment in New York's Greenwich Village. He develops an obsession with filming his neighbors in the building across the street without their knowledge. This fixation on cinematography eventually leads him to connect with a radical Black Power group, resulting in his involvement in a strange act of urban terrorism.
Written and directed by Brian De Palma, this crime comedy is the second of 24 films he directed, following Greetings and preceding Sisters. The movie stars Robert De Niro as Jon Rubin, appearing alongside Jennifer Salt, Allen Garfield, Charles Durning, Lara Parker, and Paul Bartel. - The main character, Koichi Sakakibara, bears a very common Japanese first and last name. Sakaki is a type of tea tree, sacred to Shintoists, "bara" means field or plain. The name Koichi means "constant".
